FFT Spelling and Reading

Children have fun while they learn through this literacy programme of interactive spelling lessons and 15 digital books.

Spelling with the Jungle Club

Spelling with the Jungle Club is an online platform that provides fun and engaging spelling lessons. The fully planned interactive sessions based on phonics, morphology and etymology are easy to use and loved by teachers and pupils.

Aligned with the DfE writing framework and rooted in evidence-based research. Spelling with the Jungle Club is a unique spelling adventure that ensures spelling, an essential transcription skill, sticks.

Spelling with the Jungle club is included in a subscription to Success for All Phonics or Spelling & Reading programmes, but it can also be used alongside any systematic synthetic phonics programme.

Routes to Reading
Reading Success for Year 2

Routes to Reading is a second-generation Year 2 reading programme that provides teachers with a full year’s worth of planning and resources to ensure reading success.

Easy to use and adaptable, children continue their reading journey from Year 1 by developing reading fluency, comprehension and vocabulary, via a wide range of specially written, engaging texts.

Full digital access is included in a subscription to FFT’s Success for All Phonics or Spelling & Reading programmes.

QWho can use Spelling with the Jungle Club?
ASpelling with the Jungle Club can be used with any pupils who need to secure their spelling skills from the National Curriculum.
QHow does the programme link to phonics?
AThe platform has been developed to move on from our own Letters and Sounds-based phonics programme. Any school school can use the platform with pupils who are secure with Reception and Year 1 phonics content.
QAre there any other resources you need to use the programme?
AThe daily lessons are all accessed via the platform for display on an interactive whiteboard or other digital device, including iPads. There are carefully designed accompanying lesson resources in Pupil Workbooks, provided in PDF format, that can either be printed by schools or ordered for a small cost. The colour A4 workbooks 1, 2 and 3, (one for each term) are available as a class set of 30 for £180.
QWill the platform be developed to include all Key Stage 2 content?
AWe are pleased to say that the programme has been developed up to Year 4. We are reviewing our development priorities and we will keep schools updated on our intentions to extend the spelling content into Year 5 and Year 6 in the future.
QI don’t subscribe to FFT Success for All Phonics; how can I access the programme without a subscription?
AA subscription to our Spelling and Reading programme is available and includes both Spelling with the Jungle Club and Routes to Reading.
QDo you provide training and support to use the programme?
AYes, before you begin to use the platform, we provide leaders with a short overview and teachers with two easy-to-access live or on-demand sessions, for schools before they begin to use the platform. These teacher sessions consist of an essential session on how to use the spelling platform and an optional session on spelling theory and evidence.
QWho can use Routes to Reading?
ABuilding on from early reading and phonics, Routes to Reading can be used with any pupils who need to secure reading skills from the Year 2 National Curriculum. It can be used by any school regardless of the phonics programme currently used.
QAre there any other resources you need to use the programme?
ANo, full digital access to planning and the texts are included in your subscription. You can either use all of these digitally or self-print. Our affordable, high-quality readers will also be available to purchase.
QWhat assessment information will it provide?
AThe weekly lessons have regular opportunities for review and consolidation, and each term has designated review weeks.
